I notice that the GOP speech of Trump’s has made the mid-day ESPN news. That’s pretty polarizing – unless ESPN is now covering politics as a blood sport.
Almost ten years ago we had a fellow in the county shoot and kill the sheriff. Why bring up a ten year old story?
The guy that shot the sheriff has been in federal court, the subject of three Supreme Court rulings and has finally been re-tried and convicted again and his sentence of death up held.
It’s been an amazing run of legal battles, bad court rulings, fights over the legality of the death penalty in the state, and who the hell knows what all. Even considering the seriousness of the penalty.
Mean while – the county has been through a number of sheriffs and depuies and the department has been under a cloud from time to time; until finally the most recent sheriff resigned and went to the State Police.
The powers allowed six men to register for the elections at the sheriffs spot and in the mean time they appointed the son of the slain sheriff, who finally grew up, as the interim sheriff.
Right now its not been revealed iff the son will run for a full term in November. He’d best hurry the decision.
