WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) — Julie Dombo walked across the finish line at the Wichita Riverfest Two-Mile River Run. While many finished the race, none had a background quite like hers.

On the sad side of the ledger; the missing child, swept away in the swollen creek has been found. His body has been returned to the family.
The killer highway outside the village a couple of miles has claimed four more. They are working on the highway, but construction didn’t play a part in this accident. None of these were local folks, local being here in the village.
Since they finished the highway some years back the stretch I’m familiar with near the village has claimed I don’t know how many, but quite a few. Four or five from the village immediate area.
I hadn’t realized it, but I do deliberately avoid crossing that highway. It isn’t that visibility isn’t good enough, it is that the speeds of the vehicles, many times, exceed seventy mph and the roadways are fairly wide at the two near crossing points (four lanes). That makes acceleration a Dragster start.
The highway is the only one I can think of in this area without a stop sign for seventy miles and requires a round-about to slow traffic in one area down towards Fredonia.
Follow-ups are done, I suppose. New stuff tomorrow. I received a news letter from a writers group. They track various writing contests. This letter had many poetry contests.
Many of those contests required three words poems of three syllables, five, seven and various combinations of words and syllables.
Beyond poor me. Although the thought did cross my mind.
