Vicious storms last night.

About three in the morning there was a huge clap of lighting and the TV/Net disappeared off the devices. Gone, gone.

Around ten this morning I decided to call the ISP and see what was up. Seems the center for the loop I’m on packed up service and I wasn’t the only  poor soul looking for work to fill the time.=

It all came back again about two, two-thirty this afternoon. I cannot say all is well. The blogs that normally come by eMail haven’t come today and, not complaining here, mind, the normal SPAM hasn’t made it either.

Love those silver linings.

When the storms went by and the rains stopped the calves had selected a corner of the pasture here by the house. That was the most protected area out there, but highly unusual for them to be that near.

I’ve thought a number of times over the years of changing the fencing to allow some shelter for them in one section of the machine shed, but the land slopo is bad for out drainage there. I’d have to spend more for French  drains then it would be worth what with the animal wastes draining into them.

There are a number of trees I allowed to maturity and two or three reverse slopes to give them protection from the winds. Although the horizontal rains last night perfectly mimicked the best reverse slope. Unusual, coming from the North and East as they did.

A good sign of a dying T-Storm or possible tornado fading to the east.

About tenwhiskey

User tenwhiskey is also the author of this blog. He currently lives in small town Kansas in a semi-retired condition. His kids are married and gone (thank you). An empty nester. Divorced. Very happy with life as it is. Ten Mile maintains a personal blog here, writing of events as they appear to him; commentary, and opinions abound. He deviates into fiction as the mood strikes and creates flash fiction stories and short stories. He will not warn the reader when he drifts from fact to fiction. He feels adults are, generally, smart enough to figure out which is which. He does, however, attempt to make his fiction sound as true to life as possible. You have been warned. He, as time permits, writes and occasionally sells writing. More often than not he gives it away to various non-paying publishers of Ether Magazines, forums or for entertainment on a wall for in need of a hand friends. He likes candy, pies and a certain amount of strife. In the matter of strife - in his yourth on the farm, he became embroiled in a slinging fight. The fight involved lath as a launcher, fresh cow patties as ammo and it was a six way free for all. A little mud only adds (Umm?) a certain taste to life.

  1. Cattle might appear dullards, Ten, but they what’s best for them…well, most of the time they do.
