Dawned clear, promises to be hot.

I de-capitated the weeds and grasses in the barr ditch, did the front slope, early early. Don’t mind the sunlight, or the heat, but it hurts the work the clinic is trying to do for me.

Spoke with a resident of the village. It appears a young fellow on a motorcycle has been interrupting sleep and other night time activities with loud pipes and revving engines. I didn’t ask which activities he interrupted for the speaker.

I was amused. School’s out and the teens these folks have raised simply do not have anything to do with themselves but invent amusement. To be fair, some of the late night activities is drug induced. Pop the stuff and you don’t need to sleep, which leads to all kinds of spare time to be filled – which was what popping the pill was suppose to fill in the first place.

Glanced at the local paper. They had a picture of the graduating class at the High School. About thirty or so kids. All dolled up in cap and gowns. The class gathered in over 107 thousand dollars in scholarships.

That isn’t bad money. Not really. Lots of brain power in that group.

The governors tax plan and its educational cuts is having a ripple effect through the system. The locals are examining several ways of paring back the expenses. All very public, of course. Can’t have the public thinking they like the cuts after all these years of easy money they can’t do it

They could just do the cuts quietly,  conldn’t they.

About tenwhiskey

User tenwhiskey is also the author of this blog. He currently lives in small town Kansas in a semi-retired condition. His kids are married and gone (thank you). An empty nester. Divorced. Very happy with life as it is. Ten Mile maintains a personal blog here, writing of events as they appear to him; commentary, and opinions abound. He deviates into fiction as the mood strikes and creates flash fiction stories and short stories. He will not warn the reader when he drifts from fact to fiction. He feels adults are, generally, smart enough to figure out which is which. He does, however, attempt to make his fiction sound as true to life as possible. You have been warned. He, as time permits, writes and occasionally sells writing. More often than not he gives it away to various non-paying publishers of Ether Magazines, forums or for entertainment on a wall for in need of a hand friends. He likes candy, pies and a certain amount of strife. In the matter of strife - in his yourth on the farm, he became embroiled in a slinging fight. The fight involved lath as a launcher, fresh cow patties as ammo and it was a six way free for all. A little mud only adds (Umm?) a certain taste to life.
