WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) — A study released Thursday shows motorcycle deaths are increasing at a rapid pace across the country. The Governors Highway Safety Association’s survey shows a 10-percent spike last year alone.
Yet Kansas is among only 16 states that saw fewer motorcycle tragedies on the roads between 2014 and 2015. Experts say that decrease can be attributed to road quality and safety awareness.
The contrary was a biker trying to run over a black cow on a dark highway the other night. Didn’t work, the cow won. Dead biker. Local man.
Renter came over with feed. He was feeling well, I guess. Wanted to feed the calves again. Calves will be getting loose he keeps feeding three quarts of corn a day. Then, as we were leaning on the fence talking about nothing he wanted to change out the tiller for the mower on the tractor.
The mower had been sitting out since last spring (didn’t have room in the equipment stalls for the mower. I knew it’d be a chore, but, hey, it’s summer,or almost, and I need the mower.
The calves lay down and disappear. Need to crop the grass. Probably in a week or so. It has a nice head on this year, but the seeds are still tight. I’ll let them ripen a bit more before cutting. I want to broadcast those seeds.
Folks have a brutal honesty sometimes. Near neighbors brother is in the prison waiting trial. One of the investigating officers asked him why he did the theft and the brother said; “Hey. I have a habit and I need the drugs. I cannot stand the day without them, you know.”
He’s been in there for two weeks now. I don’t know what the dry out time for the stuff is, but the brother said he is addicted to morphine or some such, not meth.
Sounds real bad, right up there with Heroin.
