Some where in an ill spent life I’ve heard a proposal for government to move secure funds from one account they could not touch, to the general funds they could touch.
I dwelled upon the thought for a time and realized that President Johnson said that given we could have guns and butter, if we moved the Social Security funds from its protected status to the general funds.
One knows how that worked out. About as well as welfare does.
So when I read the following I shook my head and adopted a sorrowful, pensive mode:
WICHITA, Kansas – – A statewide, month long initiative to put the clamps on a Senate bill is underway. Senate Bill 463 is aimed at redirecting highway money to the state general fund.
It is a fight worth waging. It isn’t a fight worth having with the idiots that propose the deal, however. But aberrant as the proposal is, maybe just shooting the proposer would be the kindest action to future generations. Or ship the fellow off to Russia and let him live there.
No budget can survive funds redirection. Do a new budget next year.
