Air is smoky and smells like burning everything. Yesterday, around home the visibility got reduced to about two miles – that in spite of thirty mph winds. Today the smoke settled in pretty well.and Peebles Hill disappeared except for a faint blur.

Burn season. The Flint Hills burn, which claims at least one vehicle wreck a season, got its requisite victim and closed the toll highway for two days. The local fire department responded twice yesterday. Burning in high winds is never good, but it winds do insure a hot fire, and sure burn.

Man with knife chases boy, threatens to stab him

WICHITA, Kan. –A man is arrested Saturday near downtown Wichita after chasing down a teenager with a knife and threatening to stab him. It happened at about 6:10 p.m. near the intersection of Broadway and Murdoch. That’s about a

Why chase the kid? You wave a knife around you’re generally warding off overly ambitious thievery, once running, let ‘em go. Chances are you’ll get another free swipe at ‘em some other day.

That Dallas Cowboys ex-player that was arrested several weeks ago failed to show for his hearing on those charges and has been arrested again. I didn’t read the story. Depressing.

The new Chief Cop in Wichita has promised to do something about Old Town Bars. Old town is a deliberately constructed Old Town lookalike for the old Wichita. Last year they had a number of shootingas and a couple of knife fights (well, incidents) The articles promise the cop is gonna. Whether gonna is a serious thing or a bow shot remains to be seen.

For sure, however, the bars targeted are a  cause, if not the Platt form fir tge nassubg if tge crowds that are present when these things go down, but no one ever sees a thing. Only watch the cops about their business after.

Such is the new generation. They’ll probably watch the invading troops that take away their country.\

About tenwhiskey

User tenwhiskey is also the author of this blog. He currently lives in small town Kansas in a semi-retired condition. His kids are married and gone (thank you). An empty nester. Divorced. Very happy with life as it is. Ten Mile maintains a personal blog here, writing of events as they appear to him; commentary, and opinions abound. He deviates into fiction as the mood strikes and creates flash fiction stories and short stories. He will not warn the reader when he drifts from fact to fiction. He feels adults are, generally, smart enough to figure out which is which. He does, however, attempt to make his fiction sound as true to life as possible. You have been warned. He, as time permits, writes and occasionally sells writing. More often than not he gives it away to various non-paying publishers of Ether Magazines, forums or for entertainment on a wall for in need of a hand friends. He likes candy, pies and a certain amount of strife. In the matter of strife - in his yourth on the farm, he became embroiled in a slinging fight. The fight involved lath as a launcher, fresh cow patties as ammo and it was a six way free for all. A little mud only adds (Umm?) a certain taste to life.
