For starters, it is coming on spring and stuff is beginning to poke over the horizon.

The Daffodills by the front walk are six inches high and will probably bud in a few days. The Elms are buding. The Walnut trees, those sluggards, show nothing but shed sticks and clutter the dogs run. The cool weather grasses are three inches high and green, the fescue is in that deciding stage of yellow.

I’ve seen no Snow Bird Travelling Homes yet. I have seen a number of motor cycles – I think you have to be demented to ride motorcycles in the first place and totally bonkers to ride them in the winter. Hardy folks them.

I say all of this to point out that the local news is full of social events related to spring. March is to be a Hare. Garden shows here, there and everywhere. There is to be a wedding at . .  Well, just follow the directions (and it is the directions I’m grinning about. That’s old school directions, for sure):

Pioneer Bluffs to host Flint Hills barn wedding showcase

Topeka Capital Journal
– ‎Feb 20, 2016‎

MATFIELD GREEN – The historic Pioneer Bluffs ranch will host a barn wedding showcase in March. The event will be noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 6, at Pioneer Bluffs, located on Flint Hills National Scenic Byway K-177 highway about 15 miles south of

Well, maybe not a wedding, but you get the advertisement. That area, over there, is a very pretty area. A nice drive and interesting in history. If you’re on a driving vacation make it part of your tour. It’s well worth it. Just follow the directions.

Trump grumped his way forward again, did he. The Establishment needs to keep its nose out of grass roots politics – loud laughter and snickers.

Damn power hungry suckers.

Can you say Tea Party and rising heads?

About tenwhiskey

User tenwhiskey is also the author of this blog. He currently lives in small town Kansas in a semi-retired condition. His kids are married and gone (thank you). An empty nester. Divorced. Very happy with life as it is. Ten Mile maintains a personal blog here, writing of events as they appear to him; commentary, and opinions abound. He deviates into fiction as the mood strikes and creates flash fiction stories and short stories. He will not warn the reader when he drifts from fact to fiction. He feels adults are, generally, smart enough to figure out which is which. He does, however, attempt to make his fiction sound as true to life as possible. You have been warned. He, as time permits, writes and occasionally sells writing. More often than not he gives it away to various non-paying publishers of Ether Magazines, forums or for entertainment on a wall for in need of a hand friends. He likes candy, pies and a certain amount of strife. In the matter of strife - in his yourth on the farm, he became embroiled in a slinging fight. The fight involved lath as a launcher, fresh cow patties as ammo and it was a six way free for all. A little mud only adds (Umm?) a certain taste to life.
