Temps out doors are fair to chilly (presently 28 degrees) and yesterday I actually had to take off my coat. Lovely stuff. The cool weather grasses are showing signs of life, turning that funny greenish yellow as life stirs in the roots.
Spent the day poking about the yard equipment. I found that one of the bearing to the mower will require replacement. I’m not sure how I missed that on the shut down inspection last fall, but it had to have shown wear well before the fall shut down and I continued using it. My bad.
Still, something is incorrect in my inspection routine and must be corrected.
Bad case of stupid in the following story. I’m forever unsure of the perps that go to ground either up or down anything:
WINFIELD, Kan. (KAKE) — A 25-year-old man was arrested Thursday morning after allegedly breaking into a Winfield home and ending up locked in the basement.
At around 5 a.m., police were called to the home at 15th Avenue and Mansfield Street. The man who lives there told officers he woke up to find an intruder in an upstairs bedroom. The suspect ran to the basement but did not leave.
NewsCow reports another family member was in the basement and took off up the stairs before locking the door to the basement.
Police arrived and arrested Derek M. Bell for criminal trespass and possession of meth. His bond was set at $5,000.
Kansas Department of Corrections records show Bell served time in prison for aggravated assault, aggravated battery, aggravated burglary and theft. He was paroled in November of 2015
There isn’t any satisfaction in knowing I make mistakes also. A family of eight lost their home in a fire this week in a village up the highway a bit. The Sheriffs department seems to be the contact point for money donations for the family. They lost everything but title to the ground.
From the reaches,
