The national political scene is a messy bit of fun – a mud wrestling fight to be sure. Although I’d hesitate to call it overly interesting.

Closer to home, we do have a bit of fun. Whether it is settled case law or just beginning I don’t know.

KS Supreme Court strikes down Wichita marijuana ordinance

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) – The highest court in Kansas has struck down a Wichita voter-approved ordinance that reduces penalties for possessing small amounts of marijuana.

Another case of the voter not knowing what is good for it and legislating from the courts benches.

That, of course, while a cough medicine manufacture recalls syrup laced with morphine. And Coke Cola had to hide their original coke. At least they were truthful in their advertising.

Still cold. Still icy. We had some snow  – the very dry, small pellet type. Just a dusting over the ice. The roads are being blown clear of the snow by the traffic and ice remains only on the culverts and bridges. It isn’t hindering the traffic overly much.

Most of the accidents were last week, those left seem to have moderated their behavior.

Our small town dog packs, those folks that have jobs that allow their dogs to roam for a time after work, have been scarce. To cold to allow the dogs to have their two hour romps I guess.

That allows me some peace anyway. Dog isn’t begging to go out every five minutes to greet his friends. It does, however, burden me with entertaining Dog more often, until he settles down from his biological clock alarm going off at certain times of the day.

Which makes one wonder about animals and their ability to tell time. Ever seen an animal that could make it, fail to make a meal time?

About tenwhiskey

User tenwhiskey is also the author of this blog. He currently lives in small town Kansas in a semi-retired condition. His kids are married and gone (thank you). An empty nester. Divorced. Very happy with life as it is. Ten Mile maintains a personal blog here, writing of events as they appear to him; commentary, and opinions abound. He deviates into fiction as the mood strikes and creates flash fiction stories and short stories. He will not warn the reader when he drifts from fact to fiction. He feels adults are, generally, smart enough to figure out which is which. He does, however, attempt to make his fiction sound as true to life as possible. You have been warned. He, as time permits, writes and occasionally sells writing. More often than not he gives it away to various non-paying publishers of Ether Magazines, forums or for entertainment on a wall for in need of a hand friends. He likes candy, pies and a certain amount of strife. In the matter of strife - in his yourth on the farm, he became embroiled in a slinging fight. The fight involved lath as a launcher, fresh cow patties as ammo and it was a six way free for all. A little mud only adds (Umm?) a certain taste to life.
