Things continue quiet on my patch.

Yesterday was a birder day. Crows (why they are around at this time, I don’t know), those intermediate Ravens were in force. Geese all over the fields, and in the dam just off of Hwy 54 were all types of ducks.

This is the first year since the city took over the acreage and took out the brush that surrounded the large pond. I had always looked forward to driving past that place and when they took out the brush the ducks abandoned the pools. Now, finally, they are coming back. They congregate around the open water in large circles. Probably warming the ice – just joking.

A young Red Tailed Hawk, still in mottled feathers, was sitting on a power line looking rather lonesome.

But the little fellows haven’t been in abundance around my place this year. I’ll get the feeders out soon.

The part-time coach and teacher her in the county changed her pleas to guilty when offered reduced charges of child porn. She seemed ashamed that she had solicited under aged people, and more so when she admitted that she had sent pictures of her naked breasts to one or two.

Can’t really say I condone aggressive female behavior in a sexual under age contact, but I do think that the interweb has a far higher degree of exposure. And it is open to all, even with parental controls.

My parents ain’t your parents.

So, if I want to peek, I’d find parents that don’t care. Which is easy enough.

The Sheriff’s Office and the County Seat City council reached an agreement as to the worth to the city of having a deputy hanging about giving out tickets.  The implication of a “quota” system of tickets to pay the cities payment for keeping the deputies around seems to have been swept behind the seats and everyone walks the aisles, keeping their feet clean.

Of course, the dirt is still there. No one needs to look too closely, however.

About tenwhiskey

User tenwhiskey is also the author of this blog. He currently lives in small town Kansas in a semi-retired condition. His kids are married and gone (thank you). An empty nester. Divorced. Very happy with life as it is. Ten Mile maintains a personal blog here, writing of events as they appear to him; commentary, and opinions abound. He deviates into fiction as the mood strikes and creates flash fiction stories and short stories. He will not warn the reader when he drifts from fact to fiction. He feels adults are, generally, smart enough to figure out which is which. He does, however, attempt to make his fiction sound as true to life as possible. You have been warned. He, as time permits, writes and occasionally sells writing. More often than not he gives it away to various non-paying publishers of Ether Magazines, forums or for entertainment on a wall for in need of a hand friends. He likes candy, pies and a certain amount of strife. In the matter of strife - in his yourth on the farm, he became embroiled in a slinging fight. The fight involved lath as a launcher, fresh cow patties as ammo and it was a six way free for all. A little mud only adds (Umm?) a certain taste to life.
