I’m regaining my sense of humor. I lost it somewhere over the past two weeks or so.

I’ve received 4 of the 5 books I ordered from Amazon. That constitutes two-thirds of the total order. The items that Amazon was going to be responsible for are the missing items.

Those, they said, have a due date of 24 Dec. It is interesting that the sub-suppliers got their books here first. Of course, they probably had a smaller customer base to satisfy.

I called the church and they figure it wouldn’t hurt for me to drop off the books, if I wanted to gift wrap them, before Christmas and Pastor promised to hand them out. He didn’t have to promise, it was his idea in the first place.

I was catching up on the papers over coffee this morning. A small item in the corner of the front page caught my eye.

COW-CAR COLLIDE NEAR . . . (small town Ks)

That brought on a mental picture of a cow obeying traffic rules and a car obeying traffic rules and one or the other making a mistake.

It turns out that the cow was doing a Willie Nelson impression and playing on the road again.

It was raining.

The cow was black (yeah, yeah. The human driver was white). (Sheez. This PC stuff is catching).

The paper went on to say that the driver of the car was alright, however the vehicle was totaled, and the cow died as a result of the accident.

Honestly, I’m not a rummy or anything, but I kept waiting, as I read the article, for the reporter to give me the name, age and address of that cow.

No. Really. I did.

He/she, the reporter, give us the cow’s owner, and the town the cow died near. There was no report of who claimed the body.

About tenwhiskey

User tenwhiskey is also the author of this blog. He currently lives in small town Kansas in a semi-retired condition. His kids are married and gone (thank you). An empty nester. Divorced. Very happy with life as it is. Ten Mile maintains a personal blog here, writing of events as they appear to him; commentary, and opinions abound. He deviates into fiction as the mood strikes and creates flash fiction stories and short stories. He will not warn the reader when he drifts from fact to fiction. He feels adults are, generally, smart enough to figure out which is which. He does, however, attempt to make his fiction sound as true to life as possible. You have been warned. He, as time permits, writes and occasionally sells writing. More often than not he gives it away to various non-paying publishers of Ether Magazines, forums or for entertainment on a wall for in need of a hand friends. He likes candy, pies and a certain amount of strife. In the matter of strife - in his yourth on the farm, he became embroiled in a slinging fight. The fight involved lath as a launcher, fresh cow patties as ammo and it was a six way free for all. A little mud only adds (Umm?) a certain taste to life.

Next thing… you will be voting for Bernie and chanting “Cow lives matter!”

Also… Merry Christmas, Ten Mile. Maybe Santa will bring you a special gift and get that darn Washington squad into the playoffs. The math nerds think the Skins are a 50/50 shot to advance to postseason: http://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2015-nfl-predictions/

I have great faith in Bernie – just not enough to vote for him under any circumstance. Well, maybe if it is a choice between just he or that woman, what’s her name? Yeah. Her. Next to her, Bernie is a saint. Mis-guided, perhaps, but a comparative Saint.
I notice you’re paying homage to your hometown. You are a faithful fellow. Best to you and yours. I’ve lost your brothers addy. But I’ve lost so much with all the computer changes. And, really, Cousins has/is/will mature as a QB, now that he “has” a job/position. He also has a decent backup.
All the skins need now is to free up a bunch of Cap Space, like twenty-six million worth. And get a decent line. That would help.
    Merry Christmas, Pauly.
