A wonderful autumn day. Early chill, fading toward comfortable warm around noon. Only one drawback. The only football is college and that starts about noon – on the TV.
Over the past few months there has been a series of arrests in the Winfield Ks/Ponca City Ok area. That’s down along the main highway at the Ks/Ok border area.
The latest busts have been about the same as a previous one:
BLACKWELL — Officers obtained 36 arrest warrants in an operation targeting methamphetamine deals and distributors Thursday morning. The mission, Operation Ice Man, began at 7 a.m. The Eighth District Attorney’s Drug and Violent Crime Task Force
If you have three or four arrests of that size in the span of two or three years in an immediate area you must have something else going on. I think I’d be looking outside the people I’m sending for free food and lodging.
I suspect that the police are looking beyond the immediate area, but with the border being a little open and all there isn’t much chance for local law dogs doing much but continue the sizeable busts they have going.
Finally got all the bits and pieces picked up around the pasture area. All the movable fencing is stacked, water points dismantled and winterized. Feed troughs dragged to a central point. All the fencing is tight and should winter well, barring deer jumping them and getting hung up – or maybe a neighbor kid thinking a fence is more easily cllimbed than a tree.
I’ve even gone so far as to clean the mower, although that was pointless. Need to munch up leaves yet. The trees are shedding well and the lawn is looking shaggy with wind blown leaves.
