A wonderful autumn day. Early chill, fading toward comfortable warm around noon. Only one drawback. The only football is college and that starts about noon – on the TV.

Over the past few months there has been a series of arrests in the Winfield Ks/Ponca City Ok area. That’s down along the main highway at the Ks/Ok border area.

The latest busts have been about the same as a previous one:

Meth bust results in 27 arrests, 36 warrants

BLACKWELL — Officers obtained 36 arrest warrants in an operation targeting methamphetamine deals and distributors Thursday morning. The mission, Operation Ice Man, began at 7 a.m. The Eighth District Attorney’s Drug and Violent Crime Task Force

If you have three or four arrests of that size in the span of two or three years in an immediate area you must have something else going on. I think I’d be looking outside the people I’m sending for free food and lodging.

I suspect that the police are looking beyond the immediate area, but with the border being a little open and all there isn’t much chance for local law dogs doing much but continue the sizeable busts they have going.

Finally got all the bits and pieces picked up around the pasture area. All the movable fencing is stacked, water points dismantled and winterized. Feed troughs dragged to a central point. All the fencing is tight and should winter well, barring deer jumping them and getting hung up – or maybe a neighbor kid thinking a fence is more easily cllimbed than a tree.

I’ve even gone so far as to clean the mower, although that was pointless. Need to munch up leaves yet. The trees are shedding well and the lawn is looking shaggy with wind blown leaves.

About tenwhiskey

User tenwhiskey is also the author of this blog. He currently lives in small town Kansas in a semi-retired condition. His kids are married and gone (thank you). An empty nester. Divorced. Very happy with life as it is. Ten Mile maintains a personal blog here, writing of events as they appear to him; commentary, and opinions abound. He deviates into fiction as the mood strikes and creates flash fiction stories and short stories. He will not warn the reader when he drifts from fact to fiction. He feels adults are, generally, smart enough to figure out which is which. He does, however, attempt to make his fiction sound as true to life as possible. You have been warned. He, as time permits, writes and occasionally sells writing. More often than not he gives it away to various non-paying publishers of Ether Magazines, forums or for entertainment on a wall for in need of a hand friends. He likes candy, pies and a certain amount of strife. In the matter of strife - in his yourth on the farm, he became embroiled in a slinging fight. The fight involved lath as a launcher, fresh cow patties as ammo and it was a six way free for all. A little mud only adds (Umm?) a certain taste to life.
