I’ve  mentioned Salina in these pages before. I’ve also said they a trade school function there. Some of the activity is aviation related, some otherwise.

Many bad things come through the news feed from that area. Probably it is multi-cultural related, or even drug related. Some times something funny comes along.

This morning it came in several pieces. One is the main story itself. It tickles my fancy that one speaks of aviation and an area of telephone poles in the same breath:

And the other, more amusing, literature clobber comes from the sub-headline teasers:

It just tickles the hell out of me visualizing wheat harvest being conducted with explosives.

Mean while, back in more responsible mode and concerning the village and myself; it seems the village secretary has quit. She wants her evenings back.

I assume that the certain truck showing up in her drive each evening has a something to do with evening work schedule she’s been doing. More power to her, and blessings on the relationship.

The other minor item for me is the calves. We’re not going to make the grass period as normal. It’s turned dry and the grass is in poor shape. The calves are eating only along the creek banks and I’ve begun double feed schedule with them. Rolled corn twice a day, morning and evening.

That should hold their weight up and keep them healthy until Renter can make arrangements for them elsewhere.

So I’ll be losing them within the week.

That means I’ll be able to get in the area and mow and get rid of some of the small trees that took root in there. That’s a good thing.

About tenwhiskey

User tenwhiskey is also the author of this blog. He currently lives in small town Kansas in a semi-retired condition. His kids are married and gone (thank you). An empty nester. Divorced. Very happy with life as it is. Ten Mile maintains a personal blog here, writing of events as they appear to him; commentary, and opinions abound. He deviates into fiction as the mood strikes and creates flash fiction stories and short stories. He will not warn the reader when he drifts from fact to fiction. He feels adults are, generally, smart enough to figure out which is which. He does, however, attempt to make his fiction sound as true to life as possible. You have been warned. He, as time permits, writes and occasionally sells writing. More often than not he gives it away to various non-paying publishers of Ether Magazines, forums or for entertainment on a wall for in need of a hand friends. He likes candy, pies and a certain amount of strife. In the matter of strife - in his yourth on the farm, he became embroiled in a slinging fight. The fight involved lath as a launcher, fresh cow patties as ammo and it was a six way free for all. A little mud only adds (Umm?) a certain taste to life.
