Some cracks of common sense seem to be appearing the continual push for higher education.

WSU enrollment projections down this year

Hillary baby’s plan for free education might be running into the current debt of higher education. The common sense of those receiving free money  give it away and the prices for the same goods will rise accordingly. In her case the public purse won’t support the thing.

I noticed that the folks keeping track of such things are voicing concerns that aviation is experiencing a shortage of pilots. They seem to be fearful of a shortage of pilots and having cockpits filled with low hour replacements.

It’s a bit more complicated than that, of course. There use to be a certain amount of old pilot/young pilot apprenticeship that went on, but the FAA cannot do that anymore and the pilot unions for the airlines have created a ridged pathway into the commuter/feeder lines which allow inexperience to progress and the older pilot to retire out of the system.

Rain today. A welcome thing. It hasn’t lasted long, but the clouds linger and help. The calves fed well in the cool  and on the wet grass.

Still waiting on the siding contractor to show up. He told me two weeks. Been a bit more than that. He has far fewer crews for siding than he does for roofing.

Will be happy when the years projects are complete and I can relax and find a rooutine around the place.

Locally, there has been more drug related arrests. Fewer than about a year ago. Which only proves, I suppose, that the young don’t learn by example – only experience.

About tenwhiskey

User tenwhiskey is also the author of this blog. He currently lives in small town Kansas in a semi-retired condition. His kids are married and gone (thank you). An empty nester. Divorced. Very happy with life as it is. Ten Mile maintains a personal blog here, writing of events as they appear to him; commentary, and opinions abound. He deviates into fiction as the mood strikes and creates flash fiction stories and short stories. He will not warn the reader when he drifts from fact to fiction. He feels adults are, generally, smart enough to figure out which is which. He does, however, attempt to make his fiction sound as true to life as possible. You have been warned. He, as time permits, writes and occasionally sells writing. More often than not he gives it away to various non-paying publishers of Ether Magazines, forums or for entertainment on a wall for in need of a hand friends. He likes candy, pies and a certain amount of strife. In the matter of strife - in his yourth on the farm, he became embroiled in a slinging fight. The fight involved lath as a launcher, fresh cow patties as ammo and it was a six way free for all. A little mud only adds (Umm?) a certain taste to life.
