Good morning.

An up date on the headlines from yesterday. Crews worked until about three in the afternoon trying to find the young fisherman. Then they had to retreat to a waiting mode. They are hoping the closing of the flood gates will lessen the water flow, hence the pressures of the waters letting trapped objects surface.

The fisherman was walking across one of the many dam’s municipalities use to trap waters. These dam’s are very common near cities here in Kansas. They are usually twelve to twenty feet high and all flood waters to spill over the full width of the dam. It is common for a deep pool to form on the down stream side of the dam’s and falling water from the over spill can trap objects under the lip of concrete at the bases.

UPDATE: Crews search for man who fell into river in El Dorado –

That’s an uneducated guesstimate from me. The link is the official word.

The Donald told it like it is, in respect to McCain. McCain has been feeding on public sympathy for his entire political career. A soldier, yes. A hero, no. Deserving of respect, not worship. Actually, McCain has been in Congress about two terms too long.

Both Kerry and McCain are political animals using war awards  – Kerry’s unearned, McCain’s earned (with exceptions for grandstanding, like Kerry).

While I’m on the subject of mis-understood comments: I told my siding contractor, I said;  “Are you sending me a White Crew or a Mexican Crew for the roofing?”

She demanded to know what was wrong with a a Mexican Crew.

So, I told her that Housekeeper had work done by her company. A White Crew did the original work; the company was called back to re-do the work and a White Crew was sent; and, the company was called back to re-do the work again. This time they sent a Mexican Crew and they fixed the problem correctly.

I ask you, then: “Are you sending me a White Crew or a Mexican Crew to do my roof.”

She said that all the companies crews were Mexican.

I grunted: Good.

The contractor is a Mexican Woman.

Tickled me that she got upset and was feisty.

But it did point out to me the sensitivity of some folks personality and humped up self opinion – commonly called pride.

About tenwhiskey

User tenwhiskey is also the author of this blog. He currently lives in small town Kansas in a semi-retired condition. His kids are married and gone (thank you). An empty nester. Divorced. Very happy with life as it is. Ten Mile maintains a personal blog here, writing of events as they appear to him; commentary, and opinions abound. He deviates into fiction as the mood strikes and creates flash fiction stories and short stories. He will not warn the reader when he drifts from fact to fiction. He feels adults are, generally, smart enough to figure out which is which. He does, however, attempt to make his fiction sound as true to life as possible. You have been warned. He, as time permits, writes and occasionally sells writing. More often than not he gives it away to various non-paying publishers of Ether Magazines, forums or for entertainment on a wall for in need of a hand friends. He likes candy, pies and a certain amount of strife. In the matter of strife - in his yourth on the farm, he became embroiled in a slinging fight. The fight involved lath as a launcher, fresh cow patties as ammo and it was a six way free for all. A little mud only adds (Umm?) a certain taste to life.
