Don Juan de Oñate never found the fabled city of gold he desperately sought in his 1601 expedition in the southern Plains.
But in southern Kansas, the Spanish governor of New Mexico and his soldiers stumbled upon what might have been the largest Native American settlement in what is now the United States.
Another case of “I didn’t know that!”.
Well, I did, kinda. But certainly not that it was exactly where it has been pointed.
Different subject. A hangar burned at an airport I use to fly out of. Nice little airport. It had a good strong bunch of people there also. Haven’t been back in some years.
Then there is the village. Had fireworks over the weekend. Two days of fireworks. I’m afraid to check to see if the village paid for the show. The reason there is the man with the fireworks stand is an appointed member of the village council. He was appointed to the council after he was voted off the council by the village electorate – because he did things just like this.
I hope I’m incorrect. Even if the mans son was the proprietor of the actual business that fired the stuff off.
