Renter swung by with feed. Always a pleasure to have full bunkers. Trouble is, that stuff (cracked corn) was terrible. Mostly powder. Probably shoveled up at the tail end of the grinding run.  It was a house bag, meaning the Co-Op lays claim to it.

Spread some range cubes for the calves, Renter claims I’m spoiling the critters. Which is true, truth be told. But, hey, I refuse to put up a roof for them, so some spoilage is warranted.

And they are forecasting more flooding rains for the time period in question. Heh.

I started to write about the old car dealership building. I forgot to take a picture of it. This thing in this picture, is that stupid well I’ve written of before. It is in the center of the main intersection of the village.

It’s about eight feet across, sixty five feet deep, and lined. It was used, way back in the 1800’s to service the trains. The RR was here long before the village was here. We were a site of a small gage and normal gage crossing so it became a minor place of business as goods were many times transferred from train to train.

We’ve (the council) has decided to fill  the big hole with dirt and stone and when it settles, they’ll cap it. The pumped it dry over a period of a day or so one time and the well re-filled within twenty-four hours.  The council then gave up on simply capping the thing.

About tenwhiskey

User tenwhiskey is also the author of this blog. He currently lives in small town Kansas in a semi-retired condition. His kids are married and gone (thank you). An empty nester. Divorced. Very happy with life as it is. Ten Mile maintains a personal blog here, writing of events as they appear to him; commentary, and opinions abound. He deviates into fiction as the mood strikes and creates flash fiction stories and short stories. He will not warn the reader when he drifts from fact to fiction. He feels adults are, generally, smart enough to figure out which is which. He does, however, attempt to make his fiction sound as true to life as possible. You have been warned. He, as time permits, writes and occasionally sells writing. More often than not he gives it away to various non-paying publishers of Ether Magazines, forums or for entertainment on a wall for in need of a hand friends. He likes candy, pies and a certain amount of strife. In the matter of strife - in his yourth on the farm, he became embroiled in a slinging fight. The fight involved lath as a launcher, fresh cow patties as ammo and it was a six way free for all. A little mud only adds (Umm?) a certain taste to life.
