Spring time in Kansas blends into summer and that, is music time.

Todays village building is the bank. It is a branch bank and it is a very large building for such:

As a matter of fact, it is the largest building outside the school left on the main drag. That handi-ramp was added about six years ago. There was a three day fuss about it. The power company sent a five man crew and three vehicles out and the village council, having ignored the banks letter explaining how they had to comply with Federal rules needed to build the ramp, but there was a street light pole in the way and the bank wanted to know if they should build the ramp as a serpentine figure (shown) to stay on their lot, or build the ramp long ways.

If the village would allow the extra over lap without the taxes involved being paid because the lots on either side the bank are village owned.

The village clerk, when confronted by the electrical people, dithered, and spent three hours trying to find a member of the council or even the mayor. Failing at that, she ordered the entire pole moved to in front of the village lot.

Sensible woman. She’s since quit the village. She and hubby moved to the East edge of Wichita and she went to work in the Andover, Ks city government system.

I moved here about twenty years ago. Three days after moving in the bank was robbed by two men. The teller was preggers with her first kid. The lady wasn’t harmed and the robbers ran.

It took about an hour and a half but the robbers were caught about seven miles east of the village.

The best that can be said for them is that they tried.

About tenwhiskey

User tenwhiskey is also the author of this blog. He currently lives in small town Kansas in a semi-retired condition. His kids are married and gone (thank you). An empty nester. Divorced. Very happy with life as it is. Ten Mile maintains a personal blog here, writing of events as they appear to him; commentary, and opinions abound. He deviates into fiction as the mood strikes and creates flash fiction stories and short stories. He will not warn the reader when he drifts from fact to fiction. He feels adults are, generally, smart enough to figure out which is which. He does, however, attempt to make his fiction sound as true to life as possible. You have been warned. He, as time permits, writes and occasionally sells writing. More often than not he gives it away to various non-paying publishers of Ether Magazines, forums or for entertainment on a wall for in need of a hand friends. He likes candy, pies and a certain amount of strife. In the matter of strife - in his yourth on the farm, he became embroiled in a slinging fight. The fight involved lath as a launcher, fresh cow patties as ammo and it was a six way free for all. A little mud only adds (Umm?) a certain taste to life.
