Hasn’t rained for one complete day. Joy.

Got the lawns mowed, mushed up several mud holes and didn’t care. Got the darn grass beheaded and be damned. That leaves the barr ditches. They are still too wet. More rain forecast.

Friends some times have troubles, then others have trouble:

HOWARD, Kan. – Two Howard, Kansas teenagers were killed in an accident near their hometown Tuesday.

State troopers say Damon Wilson of Howard drove a truck which attempted to pass another vehicle shortly after 10 p.m. on K-99, north of Howard. A tire ruptured, causing the truck to roll several times. Wilson, 16, was pronounced dead at the scene. Cameron Russell, 17, died from his injuries Wednesday morning at a Wichita hospital.

A third teen, Brandon Wolfe, 18, of Moline, was flown to a Wichita hospital for treatment. He is in fair condition.

Well south of my place.

I’ve been in conservation mode this year. I want to put a metal roof on the place. I’m having a bit of trouble finding that type of contractor. I’m sure there’re many, just haven’t found them  yet.

My siding contractor finished his inside work at the library in Howard and is near finished with the inside work at the new fruit stand he’s been working on for the past few months. I’m now third in line for the next round of outside work.

Being a handyman in this area is a profitable business. The fellow that did my kitchen and mud room quit the area for Arkansas, telling us there was no work here.

About tenwhiskey

User tenwhiskey is also the author of this blog. He currently lives in small town Kansas in a semi-retired condition. His kids are married and gone (thank you). An empty nester. Divorced. Very happy with life as it is. Ten Mile maintains a personal blog here, writing of events as they appear to him; commentary, and opinions abound. He deviates into fiction as the mood strikes and creates flash fiction stories and short stories. He will not warn the reader when he drifts from fact to fiction. He feels adults are, generally, smart enough to figure out which is which. He does, however, attempt to make his fiction sound as true to life as possible. You have been warned. He, as time permits, writes and occasionally sells writing. More often than not he gives it away to various non-paying publishers of Ether Magazines, forums or for entertainment on a wall for in need of a hand friends. He likes candy, pies and a certain amount of strife. In the matter of strife - in his yourth on the farm, he became embroiled in a slinging fight. The fight involved lath as a launcher, fresh cow patties as ammo and it was a six way free for all. A little mud only adds (Umm?) a certain taste to life.
