TOPEKA, Kan.

Republican legislators in Kansas were moving ahead Wednesday with bills to shrink the state’s civil service and restrict public employee unions, saying the measures would modernize government and make it operate more like private industry.

Public employee groups saw the bills being considered by the House and Senate commerce committees as part of a coordinated attack on organized labor, a key source of political support for Democrats. They also argued that the changes will harm workers.

And the Union goes up in arms.

Ain’t that too bad. I’m not ant-union (yes I am)  and it’s okay to be union if you want too. But I am against the employer being responsible for acting as cashier/secretary/recruiter and all other overhead to unions.

I think unions should collect their own dues, pay taxes on their income, be responsible for their own building and offices and be taxed for them. They shouldn’t get a free ride on the tax payers backs and be allowed to give retirement funds to politicians election campaigns, vacations or any other type of hand out to other than the union members and families.

I’ve seen too many of the union crap on strike where the members act as un-disciplined pimply faced teens – pissing in corners, spitting on people and, shades of NYC defecating on police cars.

For fun, Dear – y, just for fun. Cos, I don’t even know who the first president is and don’t care, you know. This is my life, now.

Right.

User tenwhiskey is also the author of this blog. He currently lives in small town Kansas in a semi-retired condition. His kids are married and gone (thank you). An empty nester. Divorced. Very happy with life as it is. Ten Mile maintains a personal blog here, writing of events as they appear to him; commentary, and opinions abound. He deviates into fiction as the mood strikes and creates flash fiction stories and short stories. He will not warn the reader when he drifts from fact to fiction. He feels adults are, generally, smart enough to figure out which is which. He does, however, attempt to make his fiction sound as true to life as possible. You have been warned. He, as time permits, writes and occasionally sells writing. More often than not he gives it away to various non-paying publishers of Ether Magazines, forums or for entertainment on a wall for in need of a hand friends. He likes candy, pies and a certain amount of strife. In the matter of strife - in his yourth on the farm, he became embroiled in a slinging fight. The fight involved lath as a launcher, fresh cow patties as ammo and it was a six way free for all. A little mud only adds (Umm?) a certain taste to life.
