So. Tell me. Now that Christmas Day is here, is it more fun getting to the 24th, or more fun on Christmas Day?

Rather a let-down isn’t it. Kind of like the last day of vacation or something.

Just an observation.

Browsing for football games, and knowing that Basketball is replacing the traditional football game, and being thankful I do have the NFL Channel, I stopped into KAKE TV web page. One of the lesser stories concerned a Wichita incident:

Officials say during a disturbance in a home a 32-year-old man was stabbed multiple times by a 16-year-old boy.

No other details were given, promised on Friday, another business day. The teen is in jail. Dateline is 10:10 hrs, 25 Dec 2014.

Not a happy thing.

The near neighbor hasn’t done a thing for months about his place. This after noon he is out beating on scrap metal with no discernable plan. Just beating up on the scrap. His Christmas must have been as disappointing to him as was the Teen’s and the man he stabbed.

They speak of the suicide rate rising during this time of year. Wichita has experienced a rise in murder this year. The economy isn’t really as good as it was once, a few years ago. Too many aircraft businesses have diversified and gone on to non-union areas.

About tenwhiskey

User tenwhiskey is also the author of this blog. He currently lives in small town Kansas in a semi-retired condition. His kids are married and gone (thank you). An empty nester. Divorced. Very happy with life as it is. Ten Mile maintains a personal blog here, writing of events as they appear to him; commentary, and opinions abound. He deviates into fiction as the mood strikes and creates flash fiction stories and short stories. He will not warn the reader when he drifts from fact to fiction. He feels adults are, generally, smart enough to figure out which is which. He does, however, attempt to make his fiction sound as true to life as possible. You have been warned. He, as time permits, writes and occasionally sells writing. More often than not he gives it away to various non-paying publishers of Ether Magazines, forums or for entertainment on a wall for in need of a hand friends. He likes candy, pies and a certain amount of strife. In the matter of strife - in his yourth on the farm, he became embroiled in a slinging fight. The fight involved lath as a launcher, fresh cow patties as ammo and it was a six way free for all. A little mud only adds (Umm?) a certain taste to life.
