On Oct. 23 an additional 30 head of bison, made up of 13 males and 17 females ranging in age from 1.5 to 2.5 years, arrived to join the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve herd— bringing total herd size to 58 animals.

If you are not familiar with Tallgrass, it is a preserve a couple of miles north of Strong City, Ks. The bison are in an area through which hikers may walk. The entire enterprise is predicated on showing the ‘natural’ landscape of Ks before the advent of the white man’s incursion.

The area is well worth the visit – next spring and summer. Gets rather cold out there in the winter. The Park Service cautions that, though the area is open year round, the newly installed animals can be rather unpredictable and should not be approached closer than a hundred yards during this adjustment period of seeking herd superiority and priorities.

It was rather saddening to watch Pat Roberts (R-US Senate) during the later stages of his re-election and immediately after. The party line was spouted over and over, seemingly without thought. When he was re-elected, he exhibited the same lines, but this time without stress, the relief palatable in his behavior. Sad indeed. No sign of originality or self determination.

Then watching the spin Pelosi was trying to put on the election, along with the dra-mama.

More sad.

Not only sad, but scary. They don’t appear to live in the real world in their minds and they continually claim to be leaders and policy makers, and we (as a generality) keep sending them back to create deeper layers of Disney World on the Potomac.

Jesus, I hope this isn’t what the under thirty crowd really wants. There isn’t a video game out there as strange as these Democratic representatives.

About tenwhiskey

User tenwhiskey is also the author of this blog. He currently lives in small town Kansas in a semi-retired condition. His kids are married and gone (thank you). An empty nester. Divorced. Very happy with life as it is. Ten Mile maintains a personal blog here, writing of events as they appear to him; commentary, and opinions abound. He deviates into fiction as the mood strikes and creates flash fiction stories and short stories. He will not warn the reader when he drifts from fact to fiction. He feels adults are, generally, smart enough to figure out which is which. He does, however, attempt to make his fiction sound as true to life as possible. You have been warned. He, as time permits, writes and occasionally sells writing. More often than not he gives it away to various non-paying publishers of Ether Magazines, forums or for entertainment on a wall for in need of a hand friends. He likes candy, pies and a certain amount of strife. In the matter of strife - in his yourth on the farm, he became embroiled in a slinging fight. The fight involved lath as a launcher, fresh cow patties as ammo and it was a six way free for all. A little mud only adds (Umm?) a certain taste to life.
