Wichita Police are investigating a fatal officer involved shooting.
The incident began just after 6:30 Sunday morning when neighbors called police to report a man walking down the street and firing a handgun near Mount Carmel and Douglas Avenue.
When an officer confronted the suspect in the parking lot of Mount Carmel Apartments, the suspect started firing at him. When two other officers arrived to assist him, the suspect began firing shots at them as well.
Shots were exchanged between officers and the suspect in the front yard of a home on Douglas, that’s when the suspect was shot and killed. The identity of the suspect has not yet been released.
No officers were injured, but some police vehicles were damaged by bullets.
Which is getting to be old news anymore, what with Cop Killing and Soldier shooting becoming outdoor sports. Wichita has become a mini-Chicago.
The next item, which is what got my eye in the first place was much more gentle – however deadly to the unwary.

Feel free to supposition which area I live in. And, further, which game department re-introduced the animals to Kansas.
The farmers killed off the re-introduced antelope some years ago. Kansas farmers have a way of not fighting city hall, by still getting their point across. One, one year, did tell me I could hunt on his place and fill my deer tags. He added that he didn’t care how many antelope I took, the more the better. He just didn’t want to see them.
I felt pretty good he trusted my eye sight to know the difference between cows and deer.
