We were in a depression. We’re still in a stagnate economy. My pay hasn’t changed in seven years.

And I received this in part yesterday:

t’s a new way to pay. Apple Pay will let you pay for in-store and online purchases at participating merchants with a simple touch of your finger.

I need it. I really need it. Not.

FOX News had a segment on the government paying several hundred million dollars to study monkeys drinking alcohol and gambling. The goal , other than spending money, seems to be to apply the monkeys behavior to humans.

That might be a good thing, really. Consider what might happen if they gave the study-iers the cash money and sent them to Las Vegas to study humans. Another good thing about it is the monkeys  cannot cry bull shit on the results of the study.

And that brings up another point on all these studies. Consider the monkey and the human.

Both are of the wilderness, that is, of the greens and grays and browns of nature. They respond to moving air and rain. Science has shown, so studies tell us that locking a human in a soul-less concrete cell seems to change the way they respond to in-puts.

The monkeys in the segment were locked in small metal cages in a sanitary white room with no color breaking the scenery. How, really, may a researcher find a valid response from a caged, isolated, monkey.

Even hung-up human drinkers and gamblers find company of their kind in which to perform.

I imagine that any monkey in a cage would take up drink and gambling to break up the monotony. That’s not research, that certainty..

About tenwhiskey

User tenwhiskey is also the author of this blog. He currently lives in small town Kansas in a semi-retired condition. His kids are married and gone (thank you). An empty nester. Divorced. Very happy with life as it is. Ten Mile maintains a personal blog here, writing of events as they appear to him; commentary, and opinions abound. He deviates into fiction as the mood strikes and creates flash fiction stories and short stories. He will not warn the reader when he drifts from fact to fiction. He feels adults are, generally, smart enough to figure out which is which. He does, however, attempt to make his fiction sound as true to life as possible. You have been warned. He, as time permits, writes and occasionally sells writing. More often than not he gives it away to various non-paying publishers of Ether Magazines, forums or for entertainment on a wall for in need of a hand friends. He likes candy, pies and a certain amount of strife. In the matter of strife - in his yourth on the farm, he became embroiled in a slinging fight. The fight involved lath as a launcher, fresh cow patties as ammo and it was a six way free for all. A little mud only adds (Umm?) a certain taste to life.
