I noticed that the stands suitable for a hundred and sixty=five thousand people were quite empty when Joey Legano won at Bristol this weekend. I still feel that NASCAR has jumped the shark . That’s not all bad, I suppose, ebbs and flows allow the flotsam to grou out and the healthy to nurture the sport.

Odd Things People Might Say: During clean-up this week, standing beside an apple tree loaded with apples, a man was telling his friend how much apples cost in the store. The friend mentioned that the tree he was standing beside had apples and they were free for the picking. The man said he knew, but it was just as easy to get them from the gorcers – fourteen miles away from his home.

Which reminds me of some folks over the years saying they understood they couldn’t win at the slot machines in OK, but they were complaining of paying several hundred dollars in airfare and hotels rooms to go to Vegas for the tenth or eleventh time to play slots. Stoutly maintaining that they hardly slept while there and the meals were expensive

I guess, just to add flavor to the conversation, the fellow talking about apple prices wasexplaining how his government allowance for food supplements wasn’t doing the job and how he was wishing the suplement would be increased..

I d notice he did do his fair share of the work. Just couldn’t provide the machinery the others allowed him to use to  get the work done. There .may have been something there I was missing from not knowing.

About tenwhiskey

User tenwhiskey is also the author of this blog. He currently lives in small town Kansas in a semi-retired condition. His kids are married and gone (thank you). An empty nester. Divorced. Very happy with life as it is. Ten Mile maintains a personal blog here, writing of events as they appear to him; commentary, and opinions abound. He deviates into fiction as the mood strikes and creates flash fiction stories and short stories. He will not warn the reader when he drifts from fact to fiction. He feels adults are, generally, smart enough to figure out which is which. He does, however, attempt to make his fiction sound as true to life as possible. You have been warned. He, as time permits, writes and occasionally sells writing. More often than not he gives it away to various non-paying publishers of Ether Magazines, forums or for entertainment on a wall for in need of a hand friends. He likes candy, pies and a certain amount of strife. In the matter of strife - in his yourth on the farm, he became embroiled in a slinging fight. The fight involved lath as a launcher, fresh cow patties as ammo and it was a six way free for all. A little mud only adds (Umm?) a certain taste to life.
