The weekend seems to last like a kids summer – it goes on forever and ever.
Daytona is having a bad weekend. Mostly rain. It is refreshing to see announcers run out of words and canned films. But then TNT is not one of my favorite stations.
Browsed the local news. They usually list ten of the areas top stories as a click through quick browse items. This morning they had twelve. I had to think about it for a bit. Four were “other” items; six concerned shooting over the weekend thus far; six were for fires started by fireworks, after the fireworks were suppose to be dead.
Speaking of which, fireworks that is.You know how one can seemingly sense when something is made up or forced? Last night someone out there set off fireworks. One after another. Toward the last thirty or so of the really loud things it took on the aspect of “I wanna quit, but I ain’t.” Pow. Another would go off.
It got fairly funny sad. Really. You got to feeling who ever it was would finally run oout of firecrackers so he could honorably stop. And finally he did.
He’ll probably recharge his batteries, but not for a while. The sense of disappointment was pretty thick out there.
