I’ve been, in among normal events, reading Nuttall.
A rather new author in of time. I’m currently reading the stand alone book, When the Bough Breaks. The author states the book is stand alone, but it fits, he claims, into the long series of books of his Marine Corp.
He hasn’t broken any new insights of humanity, but does fairly well outline current events while not mentioning any government directly – attempting, I suppose, to avoid timing problems with waning interests if a reader tries to equate book and current events.
His supplemental writing (preface and addendums) show a certain opinion without passion. Almost a sense of avoidance comes through.
One of the things the series, thus far, has done for a space opera reader (sometimes. Usually when I tire of make believe worlds of magic and wizardry) has been a faint whiff of interest in space pictures.
