Watching thee Indy 500 pre-race activities. It brings home the knowledge that once a year is a good thing.

And I use to enjoy the hype.

The local church bunch went out last evening and put out the flags on all the plots. Place looks great – for a grave yard, uou understand. All the trees we spent so much time carrying water for two years ago are doing well. And add their flavor to the place. I discovered that the supplier of the trees, a relative of one of the Kock;s, didn’t survive the depression. this latest round of it anyhow.

He went bust.

I can not say it surprises me, He gave us the trees at a substantial discount and threw in the transportation from K.C. to boot.

(I’ll not mention he promised to replace any that died in the first three years on top of everything else.)

Renter asked me yesterday if I was ready for the mail box pole to be delivered. He wanted to know what size I wanted. I told him that if I used a four by four it wouldn’t stop a pick0up running over it and this morning he delivered an eight foot rail road tie.

I’ll probably have to spend some time making a larger hole, I only have a twelve inch post hole auger. I might spend some time talking his candy-ass into making that hole fit that pole.

Heh. Typical Kansas farmer.

About tenwhiskey

User tenwhiskey is also the author of this blog. He currently lives in small town Kansas in a semi-retired condition. His kids are married and gone (thank you). An empty nester. Divorced. Very happy with life as it is. Ten Mile maintains a personal blog here, writing of events as they appear to him; commentary, and opinions abound. He deviates into fiction as the mood strikes and creates flash fiction stories and short stories. He will not warn the reader when he drifts from fact to fiction. He feels adults are, generally, smart enough to figure out which is which. He does, however, attempt to make his fiction sound as true to life as possible. You have been warned. He, as time permits, writes and occasionally sells writing. More often than not he gives it away to various non-paying publishers of Ether Magazines, forums or for entertainment on a wall for in need of a hand friends. He likes candy, pies and a certain amount of strife. In the matter of strife - in his yourth on the farm, he became embroiled in a slinging fight. The fight involved lath as a launcher, fresh cow patties as ammo and it was a six way free for all. A little mud only adds (Umm?) a certain taste to life.
