Wichita, Kan. –
The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office conducted a DUI saturation patrol on Saturday, April 19 between 11 p.m. to 3 a.m.
They arrested five adults for DUI, one adult for a driver’s license violation and issued twenty five misdemeanor citations and fourteen infraction citations. The operation involved one sergeant, four deputies and one reserve deputy.
The saturation patrol was funded by A Kansas Department of Transportation Grant.
That;s one way to keep the peace.
Here in the village we had drag racers on the main drag, and when they were reminded it was a day of peace they took it to a paved highway out side the village limits.
When the rowdies were asked to mind their manners the walkers came out and exchanged greetings as they enjoyed the day.
Somewhat later the visitors from the outlying states got their licks in with the ATV’s and shouted remarks to the walkers to run if they wanted to keep up.
All in all a first spring day when life flowed.
I was rather surprised seeing twelve buzzards circling the area at mid day yesterday. We’ve probably gained one or two nesting somewhere around. The old house that use to host a nest was burned down and a new owner installed a pre-fab’ed home.
I’ll need to check the corner house the Renters Father shot up trying to rid the area of the nesting buzzards. I was never sure the old man was serious about getting rid of them until he shot up that old house, because of his habit of buying beat up calves, turning their bodies when they died out into the wooded fringes of his place for the buzzards to clean up.
I remember how surprised I was when he hired me to bush hog the back pasture and I darn near stalled the equipment throwing huge chunks of bone about.
