Week Seventeen, NFL, with bundles of positions – including loser – to be decided. Bummer. I’m beginning to think that the NFL season is like the NASCAR season. The sport Superbowl is the beginning of the season, not the ending.

Anyhow. The Skins blew the entire season. The Cowboys, those dudes on the other side of OKA, have a chance (sadly), the KC Chiefs stubbed a toe and are limping. None of that is good news.

I am excited that the Chargers have a half chance and fail, as so many times before, to understand, in my heart of hearts, how a team with less than a .500 season can make the playoffs over a team 11 and something.

Oh, I understand the math and positioning, mind you. But, well, you know. How. Rather reminds  me of me. One year I gathered enough deer to give to several military families and only one thought enough of it to invite me over for a supper.

I did accept the invite. I did think to reject it, and was very glad I hadn’t. She was a superb cook. Two earthquakes in Ok. What’s that all about? It seems the State is taking a licking this past year.

And both of their Universities have Bowl Games starting tomorrow. I will admit that I wish them good luck. I hadn’t know that Kansas football would be in a bowl game but we were. Shows how much credence I give our local football teams.

Near neighbor. ‘Member I’ve mentioned that some of his friends had done the precious wire pilfering at the old school? Umm. And then I may or may not have mentioned that the brother was implicated in the thieving and how the brother had carried away some cabling the other week.

Of course not. How can one remember what is not immediately concerning to them. Well, it happened. I drive by the near neighbors place each day or so checking mail. Usually I’m concerned with myself and don’t pay attention. But the other day I was self satisfied and my head was moving around and something attracted my attention at the near neighbors.

Yup. There on the outside front wall, shining as well as a light might, was a front porch light. I took two looks and realized that the light was an emergency white light – an industrial type light used by – schools.

About tenwhiskey

User tenwhiskey is also the author of this blog. He currently lives in small town Kansas in a semi-retired condition. His kids are married and gone (thank you). An empty nester. Divorced. Very happy with life as it is. Ten Mile maintains a personal blog here, writing of events as they appear to him; commentary, and opinions abound. He deviates into fiction as the mood strikes and creates flash fiction stories and short stories. He will not warn the reader when he drifts from fact to fiction. He feels adults are, generally, smart enough to figure out which is which. He does, however, attempt to make his fiction sound as true to life as possible. You have been warned. He, as time permits, writes and occasionally sells writing. More often than not he gives it away to various non-paying publishers of Ether Magazines, forums or for entertainment on a wall for in need of a hand friends. He likes candy, pies and a certain amount of strife. In the matter of strife - in his yourth on the farm, he became embroiled in a slinging fight. The fight involved lath as a launcher, fresh cow patties as ammo and it was a six way free for all. A little mud only adds (Umm?) a certain taste to life.
