Indeed, I had a “ho hum” type of weekend. Lots of football and some joy, the Skins won, and some doubt, RGIII didn’t get hurt and the hated K.C. Chiefs played like Championship caliber.
Yeah, the chiefs did. I’d fill the page with spleen, except they are playing so well. And, really, they do kinda, sorta represent the State. Although we have a couple of colleges that do just as well. Actually better, probably, and most Kansans I know care more for the colleges than the pro teams.
We’re pretty small minded that way.
Speaking of small minded:
Two people are in custody after Kansas Highway Patrol officers stopped a car Sunday evening near Kansas City, Kan., only to discover two more people locked in the vehicle’s trunk.
Topeka police said Monday that the two people in the trunk are believed to be two victims who were taken Sunday evening during a carjacking in Topeka.
A couple of years ago I wrote that a fellow here in the village had been arrested for dealing drugs and given three years – he was arrested by the ex- deputy I’ve been writing about. I mentioned that the perp had started a shade tree mechanics shop in the open air on the main drag. The place was a mess, which was cleaned up within three days of his arrest.
The other day I went down the main drag and about got run over by a “test drive” driver from the re-opened open air, main drag mechanics shop.
I was stupid enough to ask if the man had returned from jail and was assured that he had been released and returned to the village.
That’s life. Clean it up and enjoy while what one may. The crud will re-cycle. It never entered my mind that with the cut backs in the penal system and prisoner early release program it would affect us.
I wasn’t using all the marbles available to me.
Interesting. This is the third one to return home from prison. I’m not counting the jailed ones locally for less than a year.
