Billionaires Dumping Stocks, Economist Knows Why
What I know about money is that my check book balances. Which is a good thing. The article, as written, in conjunction with the Euro Consortium convincing Cyprus to steal money, tends to take on bad news.
Not even silver purchases seem good right now – although the thought of holding on to paper money is sickening. Go read it, if you haven’t.
Found a trucker willing to haul some rock. He works during the day, all week long, so I’ll have to wait until the weekend. That’s fine.
I’ll sneak in the dirt hauling after I see how he treats me on the rocks.
The natural gas suppliers for the village want to get out of the business. The came to the village counsel and asked the village to make an offer.
I happened to be in the village office when I heard that and asked the secretary what the current census counts were. She wanted to know compared to what.
I recognize stonewalling when I hear it. Some times.
So, I asked the 2000, which was 340 for the village. Then I asked the 2010, which was 220. Which isn’t a good thing.
While I was at it I asked for the utilities rolls (247), the village collecting for water, trash and taxes thereon. The secretary surprised me with the information that number contained some seventy-four people living outside the limits that paid only trash, or only water. Not full utility rates.
Then I asked total expenses of the village; and, of course, total income, along with the estimated retirement costs of people into perpetuity. The numbers were not encouraging. Especially when I, as an after thought, questioned the health care program.
And that, sirs, tore the sheets.
If the village cares to go broke buying a natural gas company, the sellers of which admit they want to sell because it is a losing proposition, that’s one thing. To go in the hole twice what their income is per year, that’s another.
Two of the counsel are west coast folks: 1 CA, 1 WA, and two are local people. The mayor is a local with liberal leanings (three of the five are doper, one is a supplier). We have a very liberal thinking board.
This should prove interesting. The councilors have proven they are a grasp-y bunch. They’ve never seen a power deal they didn’t approve.
