Overland Park considers restricting open carry

San Francisco Chronicle – ‎1 hour ago‎

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (AP) – Just weeks after allowing Overland Park citizens to openly carry weapons, city officials are considering adding some restrictions after getting an overwhelmingly negative response from residents.

We voted four years ago on a constitutional change concerning firearms. I’ve not seen a great deal in writing about it. Then Wichita allowed firearms into court rooms. Open carry was legal state wide.

I’m not sure what good licensing open carry like concealed carry is all about, unless they’re saying if you want to carry, hide it.

Which has it’s own pro’s and con’s.

I hate it when people that walk by one without saying squat on a regular basis suddenly get all kissy face and make nice over trivialities. Just hate it. Or maybe it’s just I don’t trust the sucker out of sight.

Lying dra-mama. Always trying to shift his errors somewhere. Just not on himself. Ugly.

Something in the blogs stats bugged me. I got to looking closer and discovered one of the first entries (relatively) when the blog became it’s current name is causing my head scratching.

That single entry from 2007 (seven and a half years after the blog started) was/is still receiving hits. I don’t understand it, but fine if it floats the boat.

The weather out there reminds me of 1989 or ‘90. Hot, hot and windy. I was building a garage on another property back then and had to completed the skeleton frame work and was called away.

I remember hating the seventy mile drive that day to the problem, and, when I returned, my neighbors excitement describing how he thought the structure would come apart and blow away.

As he was (he’s dead now of a heart attack), umm, as he was my construction supervisor I figured the building did move the three feet he claimed it had.

I haven’t forgiven him stealing all the windows and screen doors from me yet, either. I had to tear down an old house to get those things. He used them when he built his dis-abled brother a shack behind my new garage.

Of course, when I asked for the items back he said he didn’t think so as I’d stolen them in the first place.

Yeah. He was a dyed in the wool union member and a liberal.

About tenwhiskey

User tenwhiskey is also the author of this blog. He currently lives in small town Kansas in a semi-retired condition. His kids are married and gone (thank you). An empty nester. Divorced. Very happy with life as it is. Ten Mile maintains a personal blog here, writing of events as they appear to him; commentary, and opinions abound. He deviates into fiction as the mood strikes and creates flash fiction stories and short stories. He will not warn the reader when he drifts from fact to fiction. He feels adults are, generally, smart enough to figure out which is which. He does, however, attempt to make his fiction sound as true to life as possible. You have been warned. He, as time permits, writes and occasionally sells writing. More often than not he gives it away to various non-paying publishers of Ether Magazines, forums or for entertainment on a wall for in need of a hand friends. He likes candy, pies and a certain amount of strife. In the matter of strife - in his yourth on the farm, he became embroiled in a slinging fight. The fight involved lath as a launcher, fresh cow patties as ammo and it was a six way free for all. A little mud only adds (Umm?) a certain taste to life.
