Seventeen hundred hours. Tired puppy. Have been re-claiming lost Chi.
Renters Son required some assistance moving equipment about, we were to bring back a load of straw/hay for the home place herd. He drove the tractor up with the loader, I the P/U and trailer.
Four north, three east and work the east/west half section.
It didn’t work out quite so easily.
We were working the far end of the remote hay shed; it had about five bails left. The real problem was the coons had gotten to the bails. They nested and chewed all the nylon cord used to bind the round bails. The things fell apart. Anyone with a round bailer generally doesn’t mess with bails that won’t stay together.
We did manage to save three. But cleaning up that barn was a time consumer, let me tell you. We’d started early, and about twelve-thirty or so, Renters son had to go in and make sure his dad ate. His dad has diabetes, as I’ve related.
That created a problem because we’d planned to pick up chain saws and move a very large elm Renter had taken out by a hired person.
The problem came about by the Renter wanting to ride with his son, and I was asked if I’d drive my truck back out. The three vehicles and two driver syndrome.
I ended driving their John Deere. First JD I’ve messed with in a number of years and I’d rather a Kubota. Anyhow, from thirteen hundred to present we did logging (that tree was a corner, fence ingrown, about two hundred years old. Interesting) trying to get the damn tree off the fence the hired person dropped it on.
Then the tractor wasn’t tractor enough for the pieces we’d cut, so we had to cut some more and then the tractor could drag ‘em on out.
Yes. We had to fix the fence. A six strand two point barbed wire. Renters Son wouldn’t tell me who the fellow was that dropped the tree – so I told him I’d say what I had to say about ineptitude and then shut up. He said: “Okay.”
I did and then shut up.
A relative full day on a Milky Way Bar I’d had for breakfast. But it’s done; Karma balanced.
I’d like to thank the readers that clicked through and apologize for the empty blog. We did start rather early and I wasn’t prepared for it.
