And now, we’re Hobbits.

McCain – perhaps your Middle Earth isn’t mine. In fact, Sir. Perhaps obamas war on “antique” politicians in the democratic party should spill over to you, RINO. You are not a conservative (as much as you protest any other label). But, you are around for another four years.

Over heard, after dark, coming from a group of two couples, enjoying the cool of the mid-night hour: “They found the stuff.”

“Whose?”

“Ours.”

“(*&(_(*&^”

“We’ll have to buy this winter, I guess.”

“I’m sick of it. We should be able to grow for ourselves.”

“And maybe to sell some. I’m tired of all this Day Care and kids running around.”

Conversation fades into silence and the group moving on.

I’m not against a Black Market – far from it. I support black markets. So do most folks. Think about it. What’s a garage sale, but a black market activity.

Some folks call it the underground economy. I like the ability to hire a handi-man to fix a window; haul some trash, stuff like that. It’s a cash thing. Even the government in its un-wise wisdom under stand a first “$600” dollars needn’t be reported type of thing (I thought I’d throw that in for the gamblers).

The busting of the drink stands of the kids kinda falls into the same category. Except the justification of “I’m teaching the kids responsibility and how business works. Why pick on them?

That’s a crock. If you were teaching the kids a lesson; the lesson starts with procedure, and procedure starts with the Laws.

Teach them how the system works. THEN teach them how to dodge it. At least that way they’ll know why you went to jail. And you’ll not have to explain and re-explain how incorrect you were.

Although, there is little people enjoy more than forgiving other folks transgressions, so maybe forgiving their parents will make them love them more.

Well, Congressional House Folks. You did well.

I did a meme poll yesterday. I voted in it. I’m not sure what the results were, when all was said and done. I think I voted with the majority.

If we, as a Nation, are going to lose our “Favored Credit Status”, given I might remind, by the very banks we supported with the stimulus money, then I determined that we might as well lose the status by doing the default thing and while being punished, fix the damn problem correctly.

That’s one of those thoughts. Un-thinkable.

But then giving away the only power the Congress really has, the pocket book, to the president is equally un-thinkable.

I believe I heard the NV Senator echo the president: “Government by committee is a stupid way of running things.”

Now that is a scary thing to hear from someone supposedly running the committee.

About tenwhiskey

User tenwhiskey is also the author of this blog. He currently lives in small town Kansas in a semi-retired condition. His kids are married and gone (thank you). An empty nester. Divorced. Very happy with life as it is. Ten Mile maintains a personal blog here, writing of events as they appear to him; commentary, and opinions abound. He deviates into fiction as the mood strikes and creates flash fiction stories and short stories. He will not warn the reader when he drifts from fact to fiction. He feels adults are, generally, smart enough to figure out which is which. He does, however, attempt to make his fiction sound as true to life as possible. You have been warned. He, as time permits, writes and occasionally sells writing. More often than not he gives it away to various non-paying publishers of Ether Magazines, forums or for entertainment on a wall for in need of a hand friends. He likes candy, pies and a certain amount of strife. In the matter of strife - in his yourth on the farm, he became embroiled in a slinging fight. The fight involved lath as a launcher, fresh cow patties as ammo and it was a six way free for all. A little mud only adds (Umm?) a certain taste to life.
