A wonderful month. Nature is out there this morning with a soaking rain. Depending on your point of view – like a farmer up the road who opened up a minimum tillage one year fallow field yesterday to plant Milo, or mine, who had newly installed trees needing watering.

I mentioned the Crypt yesterday. I discovered he has terminated his dealership of my mower type. He has also divested himself of all his holdings in Kansas, less the current building and grounds, and involved himself in his Texas home. He built a fairly expensive place down there. I mention that for personal reasons, of course, but also due to an interest in opportunity lost.

Not for myself. It goes like this: The Crypt began as an oil field supplier, lease purchaser, and driller. Ne had no children. He built a fairly extensive business and successfully negotiated the water when the oil business went away in the US. An astute man, The Crypt. Over the past four years or so, as he has wound down his activities, he extended patronage to a young man of projected independence.

The young man has a certain touch with things mechanical and The Crypt worked with him to extend his knowledge beyond the motorcycle to small engine repair, into the realm of parts ordering, necessary paper work, business licenses, etc.,

The young man would spend four days per week in Ok working at the gigantic regional terminal of Wally World and two day working with The Crypt – all tools, parts and mentoring provided. The young man was given days to carry on the running of the business, weeks long if he would coordinate his vacation time with the Crypt (which the young man did only once).

The Crypt continues his withdrawal, the young man has disappeared. I’m sure, when The Crypt finds a buyer for the small bit of land and the building, all presence will be terminated.

Shame that. photoshare Ostseebad Heringsdorf Germany TAGE

About tenwhiskey

User tenwhiskey is also the author of this blog. He currently lives in small town Kansas in a semi-retired condition. His kids are married and gone (thank you). An empty nester. Divorced. Very happy with life as it is. Ten Mile maintains a personal blog here, writing of events as they appear to him; commentary, and opinions abound. He deviates into fiction as the mood strikes and creates flash fiction stories and short stories. He will not warn the reader when he drifts from fact to fiction. He feels adults are, generally, smart enough to figure out which is which. He does, however, attempt to make his fiction sound as true to life as possible. You have been warned. He, as time permits, writes and occasionally sells writing. More often than not he gives it away to various non-paying publishers of Ether Magazines, forums or for entertainment on a wall for in need of a hand friends. He likes candy, pies and a certain amount of strife. In the matter of strife - in his yourth on the farm, he became embroiled in a slinging fight. The fight involved lath as a launcher, fresh cow patties as ammo and it was a six way free for all. A little mud only adds (Umm?) a certain taste to life.
